Newman’s Own Organics Review and Giveaway!

     I recently had the wonderful opportunity to try many of the delicious organic products made by Newman’s Own Organics, what used to be a division of Newman’s Own, but is now it’s own company  This was really my first experience trying a variety of Organic foods.  When I first heard the term Organic, I wasn’t too sure of what to expect, and for some reason I automatically figured there would be a huge difference in the taste of the product. I was so right, it tastes so much better!  Maybe that’s because it is so much better for you! In fact, after sampling some of the goodies from Newman’s Own Organics, I am now constantly buying Organic food when ever possible!
     What does the term Organic mean? Organic refers to the way farmers grow and process food. You won’t find an Organic farmer using chemical fertilizers or pesticides nor will you find them giving animals growth hormones and antibiotics.  Therefore you do not have to worry about what else you and your family are eating along with the food on your plates.  I was lucky enough to get to try almost every product Newman’s Own Organics makes, with exception of their Premium Pet Food line, of course!  And speaking of pet food, my next goal is to switch my cat over to an Organic diet as well, and Newman’s Own Organics has a great selection for your pets!  But that is for another review, so now let’s get back to human food and the products offered by Newman’s Own Organics.

Pretzels

There are ten (10) different varieties to choose from including Rounds, Mini’s and Sticks, each of which has different varieties such as Salted, Unsalted, High Protein, Honey Wheat, and Spelts (slightly sweet and nutty taste).  My family and I sampled both the Spelts pretzel rounds and the High Protein pretzel rounds, and found them both delicious!  Fresh and crunchy with just the right amount of salt, and the Spelts really did have a nutty-sweet flavor that I really enjoyed!   One of my favorite items we tried!    

                                 

Chocolate   
Their Chocolate Bars are also available in a variety of flavors including Dark, Super Dark, Mocha Milk, Milk Chocolate, Espresso Dark and Orange Dark.  Each one has a fabulously rich and creamy taste that literally melts in your mouth! Sinfully Good!

Fig Newmans
Newman’s Own Organics’ version of Fig Newtons, these chewy fig cookies are available in Fat Free, Low Fat and Wheat & Dairy Free.  These soft and chewy cookies have a wonderfully fresh, sweet fruity taste. My husband liked them so much, he practically hid them from the rest of us!

Family Recipe Cookies
Just like Grandma made!  These bite-size cookies really do taste home made. Another favorite item, they come in Chocolate Chip, Orange Chocolate Chip, Double Chocolate Chip, Ginger Snaps and Oatmeal Chocolate Chip.  My personal favorite are the crunchy Chocolate Chip cookies that have the perfect amount of rich, sweet chocolate chips.

Chocolate Cups
More sinfully delicious chocolate, this time in cup form and filled with a variety of flavors including Mint, Peanut Butter and Caramel with Dark or Light chocolate.  Definitely another favorite, especially the Peppermint Cups and the Caramel Cups!  Rich chocolate filled with minty cream, or gooey, buttery caramel, what more could a chocolate lover ask for? Besides the wonderfully nutty Peanut Butter Cups, that is!  Definitely my number one favorite item!

Newman-O's
Yummy chocolate cookie wafers with cream in the middle available in Original, Peanut Butter, Hint ‘O Mint, Ginger-N-Cream and Wheat-Free/Dairy Free.  These are rich chocolate-y cookies filled with smooth, sweet cream or rich, peanut-y tasting peanut butter. I liked both the Original and the Peanut Butter, and was surprised at how good the Wheat-Free/Dairy-Free cookies tasted!

Alphabet Cookies
These were my son’s favorites. Square-shaped bite-sized cookies with letters on them, they come in three flavors, Cinnamon Graham, Vanilla and Chocolate.  We sampled the Cinnamon Graham which have a delicious graham cracker mixed with cinnamon taste.

Hermits
Another thick and chewy cookie, available in Original, Ginger and Cinnamon, these taste of rich molasses mixed with plump raisins along with a zing of spice!  We tried the Original, and they were gone as fast as the Fig Newmans once my husband got a taste.  Very rich and chewy, great with a glass of cold milk!

Mints
These hard candies are available in both convenient rolls(single or multi-pack) and unique, decorated tins.  They come in four flavors, Cinnamon, Ginger, Peppermint and Wintergreen. We tried the Cinnamon, Ginger and Wintergreen, and found they all had a strong, long lasting taste with a hint of sweetness.  My two favorites were the Cinnamon and Wintergreen.
     
Licorice
These chewy classic candies are available in two varieties, Regular and Sour (the first Organic sour licorice made), and a selection of flavors.  The Sour comes in Apple, Cherry, Strawberry and Mango, and the Regular comes in Strawberry, Black and Pomegranate.  We received one of each variety and flavor.  The one’s we have tried so far, Sour Cherry, Sour Apple, Regular Strawberry and Black, taste fruity and sweet, while having the perfect soft and chewy texture.
        
Dried Fruit
Newman’s Own Organics has a great selection of dried fruits including Cranberries, Raisins and Pitted Prunes, as well as their newer flavors Apricots, Apples and a Berry Blend. We tried the Cranberries and Apricots. Both are very fresh tasting, chewy and delicious!  I especially like the Cranberries and have been adding them to our salads at dinner, as well as eating them as a snack by themselves.

     Newman’s Own Organics also makes a few more items which I have not had the opportunity to try, but I bet they are delicious!  These include Pop's Corn, Royal Tea, Coffee and their Balsamic Vinegar and Extra Virgin Olive Oil.   The popcorn is microwavable and comes in Butter, Light Butter and Un-Salted flavors.  The coffee is available in seven blends including a Decaf, French Roast, Breakfast Blend and others. Their Royal Tea comes in both Black and Green flavors, in a variety of sizes.  And last, but not least, their Balsamic Vinegar and their Olive Oils are available in different sizes and can be used for a multitude of cooking projects.
