Original Sprout:Tahitian Collection

All Natural Hair Care Products

osproutlogo
In 2003, after the birth of her baby, master stylist Inga Tritt went on a mission trying to find an all-natural line of hair products that were safe to use and would work well.  After trying numerous products and being disappointed each time, she decided to create her own line of worry-free hair products and named it Original Sprout.   Her products are completely free of parabens, phthalates, nanoparticles, phytoestrogens, formaldehyde, petroleum oils, propylene glycol, sulfates, gluten, soy and dairy. The ingredients are plant derived and from natural sources, as are all of the fragrances.  They are 100% vegan, biodegradable and none of their products are ever tested on animals.

I had the opportunity to try some of the products from their Tahitian Collection.  The tropically inspired Tahitian Collection includes Shampoos, Conditions, Hair Oil, Moisturizer and Face and Body Sunscreen.  Like all of Original Sprout’s products, this line is made only with the purest, most natural ingredients.  Free of parabens, nanoparticles, fragrance, phthalates, sulfates and more, the Tahitian Collection is 100% vegan and never tested on animals.

Island Bliss Shampoo
This tropical-smelling, natural and organic shampoo can be used on all hair types and is ideal for color-treated hair.  Using vegan protein, this sulfate-free shampoo will not weigh your hair down, but instead will make it stronger, shinier and healthier.  It is safe for use on babies, children and adults.
This thick shampoo has a wonderful aroma of a blend of Rosemary, Calendula, Cucumber,  Montana Flower and Cranberry.  Since it is an all natural shampoo, it does not lather up as much as shampoos with chemicals will, but it still leaves your hair clean, soft and shiny.  I color my hair every 6 weeks, and found that this shampoo did not strip or fade the color from my hair.  Nor did it weigh my hair down, letting it curl naturally with very little frizz.

Luscious Island Conditioner
This natural and organic conditioner contains natural Mongongo Oil which is known for its healing, regenerative qualities and vegan jojoba protein to help rebuild and strengthen hair.  It is good for all hair types, and again, perfect for color-treated hair.  Safe for use on babies, children and adults, it gently detangles while adding much needed protein for strength.
It also has a wonderful tropical scent, and is quite thick.  I only needed a small amount of the conditioner to spread it through out my hair.  As I worked it from my roots outward, it detangled my hair immediately, and washed out easily without leaving an oily residue.  Once dried my hair was soft, manageable and much less frizzy than usual.

Tahitian Hair Oil
This natural, organic, 100% vegan hair and body oil is made with a combination of non-greasy oils from sources such as pineapple, coconut, gardenia, linseed, apricot, apple and vanilla, which gives it a wonderful aroma.  It is perfect for smoothing and detangling hair while adding much needed moisture.  It is also perfect for dry skin such as elbows, hands and feet, and leaves skin silky smooth with a healthy glow.
I rarely use oils on my hair because of their greasy feel and the build up they leave in my hair, but this one was not greasy at all and it washed away clean!  It’s scent reminds me of coconuts and flowers, and it took only a small amount to work through my hair and give it some much needed moisture.  Since I have naturally curly hair, it tends to be on the dry side, and coloring it does not help either.  Therefore my hair tends to frizz despite how moisturizing the shampoo and conditioner I use may be.  Adding this Tahitian Hair Oil gave it the perfect amount of additional moisture to eliminate that frizz.  It didn’t weigh my hair down or look like I had a head full of greasy oil, and it added even more shine.  Once I finished applying, instead of washing it off my hands, I rubbed the remaining oil on my elbows and into my hands and it left my skin incredibly soft without a greasy residue.

Face and Body Sunscreen
A non-greasy, free and clean vegan sunscreen with an SPF of 24. It is a winner of the Babbles Best Sunscreen Award, and can be used on the entire family.  The ingredients naturally help fight against acne, and provide moisture to dry, sensitive skin.
I also received a few sample packs of their sunscreen which I found to be very nice!  Their sunscreen is a nice, thin lotion with very little scent.  It went on very smooth and was not greasy or oily, and it was instantly absorbed into my skin leaving it soft. Since it has a lower SPF, I prefer to use it on my face and have had no problems with it making my skin oily or causing me to break out.
The Verdict
I really like Original Sprout’s Tahitian Collection, and found that it works great on my hair and skin. I love that all of their products are made with natural, vegan ingredients, and that they have such a large selection of products for every type of hair and skin and for any age from infants to adults.  Original Sprout products are available both online and off.  You can purchase their products through the Original Sprout website as well as through many other online stores such as Amazon.  Her products can also be found at a variety of health food stores and salons worldwide.  For a list of retailers click HERE

Ooohhh, This sounds wonderful I've yet to find an all natural shampoo and conditioner that I'm 100% happy with! The only thing that would make this better is if there was an all natural leave in moisturizing creme for my baby's mixed, kinky, curly, and dry hair! :)

The shampoo sounds wonderful! I always feel weird using natural hair products because I expect there to be tons of suds and a thick lather. I have gotten used to it not being there thought because it's actually much better for your hair and means the natural oils aren't being stripped!
