Pro Digital II Kitchen Scale

     LARGE LCD, TARE BUTTON, UNIT BUTTON AND A BUILT-IN TIMER

     I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to review the Ozeri Pro II Digital Kitchen Scale.  This small, lightweight scale comes with all the necessary functions any cook could want, as well as some extras!  It has the four separate units of measurement with the capability to instantly convert between ounces, grams, kilograms and pounds with a simple push of the ‘UNIT’ button.  It’s maximum capacity is 12 pounds and it has a ‘TARE’ button which allows you to easily calculate the net weight of the ingredients.  The LCD is bright and has a wide viewing angle for the busy cook, which along with its large platform, lets you weigh big plates or bowls without blocking your view of the display.  My favorite feature of all is the built-in kitchen timer and alarm!  You can set the timer in hours or minutes and choose the alarm notification from three different modes: audible beep, blinking orange-colored LED light or a combination of both.  It is a very handy and much used feature in my kitchen!

     As far as design, it is a very compact scale that is finished in nice, shiny chrome.  It runs on two AAA batteries which are included and has a 3 minute automatic power-off feature to extend battery life.  When the batteries begin to get low, you will be notified by an indicator on the LCD panel.  Cleaning is simple, just gently wipe down with a damp cloth, and be careful not to expose the scale to moisture as it is not waterproof.
     Another bonus is the Calorie Guide and U.S. Postal Rate Guide that was included with the scale.  This book has over 60 pages of common foods and liquids listed in alphabetical order with both their common measurement and the calories per gram.  Use this guide along with the scale and a simple formula and you can find out the total amount of calories contained in the food item being weighed.  Very handy for those watching their diet.  The Postal Rate Guide includes rates for letter-sized envelopes as well as large envelopes for the U.S., Canada, Mexico and more.

    SLIM, COMPACT, LIGHTWEIGHT & A NICE CHROME FINISH

      I have been using this scale for almost everything I have cooked in the last few weeks.  I love its compact design which makes storage a cinch, and the simplicity of use.  I am surprised with how much I have come to rely on it.  I use it for everything from baking to portioning out meat and vegetables for freezing to controlling my diet.  I especially like the large display which I can see from anywhere in my kitchen, as well as the timer which is extremely useful when baking!  My opinion?   A definite must for anyone who is serious about cooking or their diet!
