Innovative, Interesting Inventions: The Beauty of the BookWedge

Part Two of a Two Part Review

As if the WondaWedge wasn’t innovative enough, there is also the BookWedge!  Are you a huge fan of reading like I am, especially in bed?  Or do you prefer to play with your e-reader or iPad/tablet while reclining? Or how about just having you hands free while you sit at the table to eat and read?  If so, then you have got to check out the new BookWedge!  What’s new about a book holder, you ask?  Nothing really, except that this book holder, the BookWedge, is inflatable!  This makes it much more convenient than others in that it is incredibly light weight and you can carry it with you where ever you go!  All you have to do is let the air out, then fold it flat and pack it up!  Now you have a great way to support your book or tablet while on the plane or in the car, lying on the beach or reclining in your bed!  The options are limitless!

I was lucky enough to receive a BookWedge of my very own to review! Whenever I have some free time, you will find me with my face stuck in a book.  My absolute favorite place and time to read is in bed right before I go to sleep.  There have been many nights where I have fallen asleep with a book still held in my hands and my husband has woken me up with his laughter!  My only pet peeve with reading in bed is not being able to get very comfortable.  I’ll either have to prop myself up on pillows when I prefer to be flat with the book propped on my raised knees, or I will lie on my pillows and have to hold a heavy, hard cover book up with both hands.   Neither option is very comfortable, especially on my neck and shoulders.  Well. no longer do I have this dilemma thanks to my BookWedge!  I just lie flat on my back with the BookWedge on my stomach and the book is propped up at the perfect angle.  It also comes in handy for saving my place once I am ready to go to sleep.  I just lay the open book over the top of the BookWedge, and I don’t have to worry with dog-eared pages or finding my bookmark or over-stretching the spine!

My second favorite time and place to read is while I have my breakfast and coffee at the table after everyone has left.  I can easily place my book in the BookWedge and read while my hands are free to eat!  One neat feature on the BookWedge is the little support piece or bumper at the bottom.  Other book stands I have used before do not work very well since there is nothing to hold the pages apart.  When I would place a book on my old metal stand, the pages would tend to flip on their own as the book tries to return to its natural, closed position.  With the BookWedge, this does not happen!  If you look in the picture below, you will see the support piece/bumper on the bottom of the BookWedge, this not only supports the book, but since it is inflated with air, it is thick enough to where it holds the pages apart and keeps them from trying to flip closed.  It also helps hold your tablet, e-reader or iPad securely in place, while allowing the entire screen to be visible!

The BookWedge is made of a sueded vinyl which is very durable and soft, much better than those hard plastic or metal holders.   Plus, since it is filled with air, it is not heavy and bulky like those other holders that are filled with beans or stuffing, and I can easily carry it where ever I go.  If I had a tablet or e-reader or iPad, then I know the BookWedge would be just as handy as it is with a book!  Your hands and arms get tired holding objects up for long periods of time at just the right height and angle for you to see!  I can imagine how easy it would be to prop up my tablet while keeping my hands free to write or drink or eat.

I highly recommend the BookWedge for anyone who loves to read, especially read hands-free!  It is perfect for those who have trouble using their hands, and it is ergonomically designed to relieve neck strain.  The BookWedge also costs much less than many other holders.  You can purchase it online for $19.99 by clicking HERE.  Keep in mind the holidays are right around the corner, and the BookWedge would make an excellent gift for people of all ages!  Be sure to check out the BookWedge on Facebook and Twitter!  Plus you can find both the BookWedge and WondaWedge together on Pinterest.

WOW! You mean I could read in bed again? I've missed doing that, but the books are too heavy to hold while lying down and I can never get very comfortable! :)

That is great! While I was reading I thought to myself I wonder if the pages would close together. Then you covered that issue for me! I stopped reading in bed because of that issue long time ago. i never found it to be comfortable having to hold the book up above me. This is a great product!!

My step father needs something like this. The man reads more books than anyone I know! He would love this, especially because he is always leaning them against the couch to read. Cool gift for the holidays too.
