    This year, one of my New Year Resolutions is to lose some of this extra weight.  This means I am going to have to make some big changes in my diet and that means I have to give up my absolute favorite treat, ice cream!  Thankfully, there is another option I have to satisfy my craving for something cold, creamy and sweet, and I can get it easily by driving just a few miles down the road!  This wonderfully delicious treat just happens to be available in many great flavors, all of which are either low-fat or fat-free, low calorie, and a good amount of Vitamin D, Calcium, Protein and Probiotics!  What is this wonderful treat?  TCBY Frozen Yogurt!  Yes, the name says it all: The Country’s Best Yogurt!
    Everyone has heard of TCBY ever since they were introduced back in 1981.  They serve all kinds of delicious frozen yogurt treats, including Soft Serve yogurt, Hand Scooped yogurt, Greek yogurt, their Beriyo Smoothies, shakes, parfaits, sundaes, even cakes and pies and so much more!  You have the option to get it in a cup or on a cone, plus you can add your favorite topping such as M&M’s, candy sprinkles, fresh fruits, granola, caramel, chocolate syrup and more.  There are so many wonderfully sweet and delicious options!  And now, to make their menu even better, TCBY has decided to introduce a new flavor yogurt every month!



   To make my resolution even easier, I was given the opportunity to become part of a new TCBY program where I get to review these new flavors!  As a TCBY Fro-yo-ista, I will not only be providing my readers with quarterly reviews of these awesome new flavors, but thanks to TCBY’s generosity, I will also be hosting a giveaway for a $10 TCBY Gift Certificate!
   Unfortunately, when I went to my local TCBY a week or so ago, they did not have the new flavor for January which is  Frosted Sugar Cookie, but it just so happened that they did have some of December’s flavor left.  In fitting with the Holiday Season, that flavor was Eggnog!  Now, some of you may be thinking, ‘eeewwwww! Eggnog yogurt!’  And I must admit, that was my exact reaction when I first learned of it, but then I remembered how much I used to love Eggnog as a child, so I decided to give it a try!
   Eggnog is one of three new Super Fro-Yo flavors that TCBY is introducing.  For those of you that are not familiar with Super Fro-Yo, a few years ago TCBY decided to introduce this new classification of extra nutritious frozen yogurt as the country began focusing more and more on better nutrition.  Super Fro-Yo contains at least 3 grams of fiber and 4 grams of protein, has at least 20 percent of the daily value of each vitamin D and calcium, and at least 10 percent of the daily value of vitamin A.  Plus, it has a minimum of 7 live active probiotic cultures, has 1 gram or less of saturated fat, and has 120 calories or less.  Definitely super nutritious yogurt!  
  I was actually surprised at how good the Eggnog yogurt tasted!  I had decided against adding any toppings as I wanted to experience the flavor of the yogurt only, and I really enjoyed its rich, buttery flavor!  Some frozen yogurt flavors are very mild, but this is not one of them!  It had just the right amount of sweetness without being too much, and it tasted almost exactly as I remember the Eggnog of my childhood tasting!  Since it is a soft serve frozen yogurt, it was quite cold with a thick, yet smooth and creamy texture.  It definitely satisfied my ice cream craving, and best of all, it was a much healthier snack alternative that also fits with my weight-loss goal!
