The Healing Power of Plants: Plant Therapy Essential Oils Part Two

A DIY Recipe for All Purpose Cleaner & Win Your Own Set of Oils!
planttherapy

If you read part one of this series, you are a bit more familiar with Essential Oils and their uses.  Over the next three posts I will show you three simple recipes for common household products using products you most likely have on hand and the Essential oils I received from Plant Therapy.  And, for each recipe one lucky Bullock’s Buzz reader will win all four of the oils I reviewed!  That means there will be a total of three (3) winners who will each get four Essential oils: Lavender, Sweet Orange, Lemon and Tea Tree!  So make sure you follow along each day!
Today will be our first DIY recipe post, and our first of three giveaways!  Today, I will show you how to make a home made All Purpose Cleaner.  Don’t forget to enter the giveaway at the end of the post!
essential oils 101
Each of these recipes are eco-friendly and work just as well, if not better, than their commercial counterparts.   You do not have to use the exact same Essential oils I have chosen to use, although I did take into consideration each of the oils cleansing and therapeutic properties.  It is up to you what scents you prefer, and keep in mind certain oils blend better with others.  Check out individual Essential oil’s descriptions on the Plant Therapy website for suggested blends.  Also, the amount of oil you choose to add is also up to you as different people like different strength scents.  Always start with a few drops, as some oils are quite potent, then add more as needed.

The recipes are based on others I have found through my readings of books and many different sites on the internet.  I have chosen my own fragrance combinations.
All Purpose Cleaner
essential oils 039
Ingredients:
1 cup distilled white vinegar
1 cup water
24-48 drops of essential oil of your choice. I used Tea Tree and Lemon
Notes:
This recipe makes 16 ounces, so adjust accordingly depending on the size of your bottle.
I used a 1:1 ratio of vinegar to water  (for tougher jobs make a bottle using a 2:1 ratio of vinegar to water)
Directions:
Using a measuring cup and funnel, pour the vinegar and the water into a spray bottle.

Add the essential oils directly into the spray bottle.  I used 12 drops of Tea Tree and 12 to 15 drops of Lemon.  Again, adjust it to your liking, starting off with less then adding more.

Shake the bottle well to mix the essential oils.

Label with the contents and date using a permanent marker .

Store the bottle in a cool, dark place.
To use, spray any areas that need to be cleaned, rinse well, and wipe dry. For tougher cleaning jobs, like grout, use a toothbrush or scrub brush.

Lavender and Orange lifts your spirits
Fresh Citrus Blend: 5 parts lemon essential oil, 2 parts lavender essential oil, and 1 part sweet orange essential oil
Another Fresh Citrus Blend: 2 parts sweet orange essential oil, 1 part lemon essential oil

I would have to get Basil. I love the smell of Basil-especially when used in a organic cleaner. I know I am odd... I also love lemon and lavender too, but you did your review on those so I couldn't chose those.
