The Newest Thing in Hands-Free Technology!

The Jabra Clipper

Hopefully none of you drive with one hand while holding your phone with the other, but if you still do, have you considered using a hands-free system?  I recently had the opportunity to review the latest in Bluetooth technology, the Jabra Clipper.

With many Bluetooth headsets you can talk on the phone or listen to music, but can you pair two devices, at the same time?  With the Jabra Clipper,  you can!  You have the ability to connect your phone and your MP3 player simultaneously!  And with the Clipper’s incoming caller alert, you never have to worry about missing a call.   If listening to music when a call comes in, the Clipper will sound an alert which you can hear over the music, and with a simple push of the Multi-Function button, you can pause the music and answer the call.   Once the call is finished, the music will resume!

But that’s not all!  Using a system of taps and presses on the Multi-Function button, you can adjust the volume, start and stop playback, skip between tracks, pause music, answer and disconnect calls, redial the last number and mute the microphone easily.  And if you put your phone down and walk too far away, with the advanced distance mobile alert you will hear a warning tone through the earphones assuring you do not walk away and leave your phone behind!  The alert system will work within 10 meters or 33 feet!

The Jabra Clipper has a sleek and stylish design, and is available in five hip colors: black, white, red, blue and purple.   Only 1 3/4” long, 1” wide and 1/2” deep the Clipper is small, unobtrusive and lightweight.  It is designed to simply slide on your clothes, purse or backpack similar to a paper clip.  And it is military-grade shock proof and water resistant.

The Clipper comes with its own set of noise-blocking ear buds, along with several different sized covers from which to choose the best fit, but any 3.5mm headphones will work with the system.  Although I used the included headphones for this review, I have since switched to my favorite pair and they work perfectly! .

I was quite impressed with the Jabra Clipper I received for review.  Not only was it the perfect size, but it clipped easily and securely on whatever I chose, so I did not have to worry about it falling off.  The ear buds were quite comfortable, and the sound quality of incoming and outgoing calls as well as music was crystal clear and had little to no outside noise interference.

Pairing the Clipper with my phone was simple as the Clipper will automatically begin searching for a device to pair with as soon as you turn it on.  I simply had to go into my phone and turn Bluetooth on, and it was connected instantly!  It was just as simple with my MP3 player.  Within minutes both devices were simultaneously connected and functioning perfectly.  I have even paired it with my laptop to stream music since my computer is Bluetooth enabled!

When I tested the system with my husband, I was able to go outside our apartment and partway down the stairs while leaving my phone inside before I began to loose the call.  As promised, a tone sounded when I got beyond 33 feet.  When in range, my husband had no problem hearing me talk, and I could hear him perfectly!   The microphone on the Clipper actually filters out the majority of background noise, so he could hear me clearly when I was standing outside despite cars driving by and air conditioning units humming!

I was also amazed with the sound quality of music the Jabra Clipper provides!  The stereo headphones actually have great sound range from bass to treble. Who would have thought such big sound could come from so tiny a device!
I love the freedom the Clipper allows me.  I no longer have to hold my phone in order to talk or listen to music.  If I want to listen to the songs on my MP3 player, I can use it while not having to worry about a missing a call. Now I can be anywhere in my apartment cleaning or working in my office without having to carry my phone or player with me.  And for someone like me that often has many things going on at once,  the advanced distance mobile alert is a huge help!

The Jabra clipper will work with any device that has Bluetooth capability, including the iPhone and iPod Touch (2nd Generation).  You can talk or stream music for up to 6 hours before the Clipper will lose power, and it has a stand-by time of up to 192 hours.  There is a multi-color LED indicator so you can tell when it is on or off, and when it is time to recharge as well as when charging is complete. The USB charger is included.

I love this idea for the gym. No more accidentally leaving my phone behind on the treadmill or wrestling to get the phone out of my armband when I get a call.

Love this! I wouldn't always be searching for my phone if I had the bluetooth hooked up. I could just leave it in one spot and go about my day. Thanks for sharing.

Interesting idea. I love the idea of a phone reminder! I am always leaving my phone and then having a hard time remembering where I left it.

Very cool idea! I hate running with headphones in as they always get disconnected! Sounds like this would help prevent that
