Big Dipper Wax Works: Hand Crafted Beeswax Candles

Bee-utiful Natural and Eco-Friendly Candles

If you have a love for candles,  hand crafted, all natural beeswax candles, as I do, then have I got the place for you!  Big Dipper Wax Works!  This site has a fabulous selection of hand crafted beeswax candles.  Tapers, pillars, votive candles, tea lights, tins, sculpted candles, carved candles and more;  you want it, they have it!  Candles of all shapes, sizes and colors. They also make citronella candles for outdoors, and candles for special occasions and holidays.  The only thing you will not find here are candles made from paraffin wax.  Why?  Well there are a couple of reasons, the main one being environmental.  Keep reading to learn more.
Why Burn Beeswax?
Beeswax, unlike paraffin, is a 100% natural and renewable resource.  Paraffin is not, it is actually a by-product of petroleum that is bleached and hardened with more chemicals, then artificially scented.  Can you imagine burning that and what is being released into the air, and into your lungs?  Have you noticed the black-colored smoke that sometimes comes off a paraffin candle when you blow it out? Or that black stuff floating around in the pool of wax that forms in the candle as it melts? That is soot which is being emitted and polluting the air!
When you burn an all-natural beeswax candle, that candle is actually helping to clean the air by emitting purifying negative ions!  What are those, you say? Time for a quick science lesson!  Negative Ions are charged  molecules that result from air molecules breaking apart due to sunlight, radiation or the movement of air and water.  The amount of the ions in any set place vary depending on the environment.  Negative ions are believed to reduce stress, boost energy and alertness levels, and reduce the amount of dust mites and dander in the air.  They may even be able to protect against airborne germs.
Not only do beeswax candles burn clean and help purify the air, but they are also smokeless, dripless and tend to have a longer burn time than do candles made from other types of wax. They are also non-allergenic. Have you ever smelled a natural beeswax candle?  The fresh, clean scent is reminiscent of the sweet, subtle scent of honey; extremely relaxing and amazing!
You do have to be careful because there are a lot of candles being made that are labeled ‘beeswax’, which are actually made with paraffin, or other candle waxes, and really only contain about 1% beeswax.  You don’t have to worry about that with a Big Dipper Wax Works candle!  All of their candles are made with 100% beeswax, with the exception of a very select few that are a blend of 50% beeswax and 50% soy wax, which helps add to the burning quality of those certain candles.  This is duly noted on those candles so there is no confusion.
The idea for Big Dipper Wax Works was born in the summer of ‘93 when the creator and a friend were hiking along the Olympic Peninsula.   Gazing upon the stars and philosophizing about life, his eyes settled upon the Big Dipper, and suddenly he knew what it was he wanted to do with his life.  Combining his respect for Nature with his awe of the beauty of the Big Dipper, his career of making light from natural elements came to life in the creation of hand “dipped” beeswax candles.
Big Dipper Wax Works has a wonderful selection of both naturally filtered,un-scented beeswax candles and aromatherapy beeswax candles of every shape and size.  Their aromatherapy candles, available in ten core blends as  well as their specialty blends, are made by using the purest essential oils.  These are extracted either by cold-press or heat steam distillation, which are the two most natural ways to extract the oils from plants.  No artificial scents are used at all.  Their candles are so natural, that they only use 100% cotton wicks, which contain no metal or lead.  The wicks are primed with beeswax only, not paraffin.
I was lucky enough to receive two candles, one of their natural filtered, unscented Pure Beeswax Pillars, and one of their Beeswax Aromatherapy Pillars, pure lavender-scented, entitled Harmony.  These are two of the most beautiful candles I have ever owned, and I have a lot of candles!  Both burn with the softest, golden-colored light, and have barely melted down though I have been using one or the other every night for almost two weeks now.
The Pure Lavender scented candle (Harmony) is this deep dark purple color, and when it burns it emits the most natural smelling lavender I have ever noticed come from a candle.  In fact, I am using it now as I type, thoroughly enjoying the relaxing aroma.  It casts a beautiful, soft glow when lit at night, and will envelope the entire room in its scent.**

The unscented beeswax pillar is a warm, golden yellow color. When you light it, the whole candle glows as if lit from within.  It is very pretty and peaceful looking.  Like the Harmony pillar, and all of Big Dipper Wax Works candles, the flame itself is large and steady, and radiates a spectrum of light that matches that of the sun.**

Big Dipper Wax Works candles can be found on their online site.  As I mentioned before, they have beeswax candles of every shape, size and color, as well as for outdoors, holidays and special occasions.  They also offer beeswax body products, gift sets, candle accessories, and you can even buy their beeswax in bulk! Their prices are very reasonable for the high quality of their candles, and shipping is only $8 for all contiguous US orders up to $125.  All contiguous US orders over $125 are free!
Make sure to like Big Dipper Wax Works on Facebook,  where you can find all kinds of interesting facts on bees and bee keeping, learn about new products, find special deals and discounts and join Big Dipper Wax Works in their support of worthy causes!

**Be sure to remove paper labels before burning!  Labels were left on for the pictures only!**

First of all I love the look of these - with the extra bonuses and qualities that Beeswax has, and that the Aromatherapy adds to the overall experience - it's like these are the best combination you could possibly buy. I am going to check out their facebook page today!

These sound so much better than regular candles. I try to burn too often because I am afraid of what they put in the air but these sound really good. And being beeswax is even better.
Thanks!
