  When I blog, I usually sit on the couch in the den with my laptop on a lap-tray and everything else I need on the end table next to me.  It works out perfectly as it is comfortable and I can sit with my husband while he watches television.  The only problem I have with not using the desk back in our office room is organization!  Trying to keep all of my pens, scissors, sticky notes, calendar and everything else I use when blogging in an organized and handy spot is near impossible!  Until now that is!

   Once again, Shoplet.com, my favorite online site for discounted office supplies, has sent me some amazing products for review, right in the nick of time!  This time I was sent two Officemate products, a great organizer for office tools and a neat clipboard with a dry erase clipboard on the front!

    Item number OIC26255, or the Recycled Rotary Organizer, is perfect for keeping all of your writing tools, scissors, paperclips and more all together in one organized place.  Made from 30% post-consumer recycled content, this sturdy, three-tiered organizer has 16 multi-sized slots and rotates around making it easy to access what you need. 

On the bottom tier are plenty of slots for paper clips, rubber bands, thumbtacks and clips, as well as a tape dispenser and a slot for a sticky notepad.  The second tier has more slots of different depths where you can put small notepads, a calculator, a staple remover, white-out and more.  The top tier has 4 deep slots, two of which are perfect for pens, pencils and markers, and the other two are the perfect size for scissors and a ruler.   Everything you need in one organized, easy-to-access organizer!

   Item number OIC83382, or the Officemate Portable Dry Erase Clipboard Case is the perfect solution for carrying paper and writing tools together with the added bonus of a Dry Erase Board with clip on the front.  It is perfect for keeping my notes, extra paper and a few writing tools with me when I go other places and need to blog.  Plus the Dry Erase Board on the front is ideal for writing reminders and quick notes. 

The case measures approximately  12” wide, 13 1/8” tall and 2” deep, making it the perfect size to carry paper, files and more.  Although it has a handle, I love that it can fit in a pocket on my laptop case!  And you don’t have to worry about it popping open as it has a tab that snaps together to keep it firmly closed.

My Verdict

Flower Power in 2013

BzzAgent Campaign Garnier Olia

   I am not afraid to admit it, I am not ashamed to say it…I color my hair!  And I have been coloring it for a few years now to hide a couple of pesky grays.   Eventually I will get to the point where I do not mind the grays, but for now, I plan to continue to color. 

  
   Like many of us, I do not want to spend the money it takes to regularly have my hair professionally colored, so I do it myself in the comfort of my own home.  Because of this, I have had plenty of experience with a variety of hair color brands, and I have found that for the most part, they are all quite similar in the way they work.  Although some last longer and provide more vibrant color, I have also found that they all have the same overpowering chemical smell.  And because of those chemicals, my hair, which tends to be on the dry side anyway, always winds up even more dried out and much less shiny than usual at least for the first couple of days after I color it.

   Recently, as a BzzAgent, I had the opportunity to try the new Garnier Olia for free as part of a BzzCampaign.  I had already seen commercials advertising the fact that this hair color uses natural flower oils as opposed to ammonia and other chemicals, so I was excited at having the chance to give it a try!
    As soon as my BzzKit arrived, I was out the door and to headed to the store with my coupon good for one free kit.  Although I knew the exact shade I wanted, I was still surprised by the wide variety of the 24 vibrant shades offered.  Despite all of the choices, I stuck with my original choice of the Dark Intense Auburn.

    The kit came complete with everything I needed including the developer, colorant, color care conditioner, applicator, instructions and a pair of gloves.  The entire process was easy and took about 30 minutes for an all over color. I want to go ahead and say here that my husband actually did the entire process so I was able to take photos, and he did a fantastic job!

  First you pour the developer into the applicator bottle, then you add the colorant and shake well until it is completely mixed.  Mine went from a white color to a pale reddish-orange. The first thing I noticed as soon as we began mixing the developer and the colorant was the amazing lack of smell! There was absolutely not even a hint of ammonia!


   Once mixed, you add it to your hair using the tip of the applicator to separate sections, then apply the color working it from the roots outward towards the tips.  At this point I was able to smell a light floral scent that made the entire experience much more pleasant! In fact, I was so surprised by the lack of a chemical smell, that at one point I actually wondered aloud if it was even working!

   Once my hair was completely saturated, I let it sit for approximately 30 minutes.  I then massaged it through my hair a bit more right before rinsing with warm water until the water ran clear.  I next added the color care conditioner, let it sit for 2 minutes, then once again rinsed my hair.  After that, I was finished!  Simple and quick!

  I did notice that the color was much more vibrant than others when it was completely worked into my hair.  And the texture of the dye was different as well, the more you worked it in, the more thick and sticky or tacky it became. It was definitely a lot different feeling than the thin liquid-type texture I was used to using.

  Once I rinsed the dye, I could immediately tell a difference in the dryness of my hair even before I added the conditioner.  It was no where near as dry as it is with other coloring kits I have used!  It did, however, take a bit longer to rinse than usual until the water ran clear. After adding the conditioner, I was able to easily run a comb through it, and then once the conditioner was rinsed and my hair dried with a towel, I was impressed with how soft and smooth it felt.
  Finally the moment of truth.  I looked in the mirror and was amazed!  Not only was the color rich, vibrant and even distributed, but my hair was actually very shiny – shiny to an extent I have never before experienced with hair color!

So my verdict ?  I love this hair color!  I am amazed at the lack of harsh chemical smell, the pleasant floral scent and the vibrancy of the final result.  Garnier Olia is my new at-home hair color brand!

Wordless Wednesday: Well, Almost Wordless….

  I know Wordless Wednesday is supposed to be just that, wordless, but after adding these pictures I went to look up the name of the park where we visited this huge, amazing tree known as the Hollow Tree, and I came across an interesting , yet disappointing update that I want to share…

Inside The Hollow Tree

   Unfortunately, in 2006, major wind storms tore through Stanley Park and further ruined the tree’s already weakened support system.  It was listing at an 11 degree angle when the park deemed it unsafe and it was marked for removal.  The Hollow Tree quickly became the focus of a conservation society fund raiser, and in 2009 the tree was righted and braced.  Although this historical landmark has been ‘saved’, it does not look the same…

My Verdict
   March was a wonderful month for Beauty Box Five.  I am truly impressed with each product I tried, and while I was familiar with a a few of the brands, I also discovered some new one’s whose products I enjoyed!  I still have plenty left of each “sample”, too!  As you can see from the prices, were I to have bought each of these products, I would have spent around $75 just to see if I liked the items!  With Beauty Box Five, $12 is the total cost!  An incredible deal!

Tasty Tuesday’s Recipe

Chicken Mushrooms Garlic White Wine Sauce

   Another delicious creation that I found on the Big Oven app that is tasty and quite easy to make. 
Prep time: 10 to 15 minutes total
Cook time: 12 minutes
Serving Size: 2 to 3 (as a complete meal without any sides) OR 3 to 5 (as a meat served with other vegetables as sides)

Ingredients
1 lb. boneless, skinless chicken
2 tablespoons flour
1/2 teaspoon Salt
1/4 teaspoon Black Pepper
2 tablespoons Olive Oil
1 tablespoon Garlic
1/2 teaspoon Dried Tarragon or Rosemary
1 package Mushrooms
1/2 cup White Wine
1/2 cup Chicken Broth
1/4 cup parmesan cheese
Directions
1. Cut chicken into bite-size pieces.
2. Mix flour, 1/4 teaspoon salt and 1/8 teaspoon black pepper in a bowl.

3. Add chicken to bowl and thoroughly coat with flour mixture.

4. Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in large skillet on medium-high heat.
5. Add chicken and sauté for 4 minutes or until browned.

6. Remove chicken from pan.
7. Add the other 1 tablespoon olive oil to the pan, then add the garlic, tarragon (or rosemary) and mushrooms and sauté 3 minutes or until mushrooms darken.

8. Add white wine to pan and cook for 1 minute.
9. Stir in broth, remaining 1/4 teaspoon salt and 1/8 teaspoon of black pepper and cook 1 minute or until slightly thick.

10. Return chicken to pan, cover and simmer for 2 minutes.

11. Uncover and cook 1 more minute or until chicken is done.

12. Top with Parmesan cheese.

    Serve on top of rice or noodles, and enjoy!  You can also serve a smaller size portion as your meat and add some vegetables for the sides.

    A’s nursery theme is based around owls, so when I saw this on the Posy Lane site, I knew it would be perfect!  What better gift than one that has multiple uses as she grows!  And when she saw the bright pink color, with the cute polka-dotted owl, her face lit up with a beautific smile!

  Made from 100% cotton, it is extremely soft, and is machine washable.  It is very well made, and seems to be quite durable.  It measures approximately 15” long by 9” wide, making it the perfect size for all kinds of items to fit inside.   In fact, I was able to fit a special book and a large interactive toy inside as extra surprises for A with room left over!

    The Posy Lane site is very user friendly, and lets you personalize your gift to make it uniquely yours.  Once I had chosen the duffle bag, I then was able to select the embroidery or monogram including the thread color and the type of font.  Once my order was placed, it took very little time to arrive.
