   Everyone loves to save, and everyone loves to shop!  What if I told you there was this great new consumer loyalty program where every time you purchased a gift card, you could earn points towards another card of your choice?  Cards that never expire and can be stacked with other offers to save even more!  I know!  I know!  There are already plenty of similar programs and it takes quite a bit to be able to earn anything for free, and the selections are not even worth trying to get, especially since it takes forever to get your reward!  Well, with this program, it is completely different!  It is actually quite simple to earn free reward gift cards from a large selection of great merchants, and you get your rewards quickly…so no waiting! Sound too good to be true?  Well, it’s not!

    I was lucky enough to find this out for myself when I was given the opportunity to experience this new program first hand!  I simply went to the site, picked out a gift card from one of my favorite stores, and in return I earned points, known as TABS,  that I can use towards future gift cards!  And it wasn’t just a measly amount of TABS either!   According to the site, members typically earn a $10 gift card with every other transaction! 

   What is this awesome new loyalty program called? RewardTAB!  Based on a popular Canadian product, RewardTAB offers consumers like you and I free gift cards for shopping at our everyday favorite stores like JC Penny, CVS, Old Navy and many more.  Once we collect enough points, or TABS, we can use them towards a free gift card at a store of our choice!  Stores like The Children's Place, Cooking.com,  Sears,  Kmart and even PayPal cash!  You are literally buying gift cards to earn gift cards!

How Does It Work?
  It’s simple!  Once you become a member, you just purchase an electronic gift card of your choice to any of the 150 participating merchants, and it will be sent directly to your e-mail or smartphone, ready for immediate use.  The amount of  TABS  you earn will depend both on the merchant and the amount of the gift card you purchase.   It can vary anywhere from 25 TABS to more than 1,700!  The higher amount the gift card is worth, the more TABS you get. 1000 TABS is equivalent to $10, 2500 TABS is equivalent to $25.

Here’s What I Did
   Taking advantage of the free $5, or 500 TABS, I received when I signed up and made my first purchase, along with the TABS I received from the gift card I chose, I was able to amass 600 TABS.  I now only need 400 more TABS until I can pick my first $10 reward gift card!  Remember, when you sign up and make your first purchase, you will get $5 worth of tabs!  I have no idea how long this will last, so hurry and take advantage of it!

What’s the Catch?
  If you are anything like me, at this point you are trying to figure out the catch! Maybe you think the selection of participating merchants is not so good?  Well, let me give you an idea of just a few of the stores that are available for gift card purchase and redemption:
      Fandango, Zappos, Omaha Steaks, Groupon, Timberland,    
      Banana Republic, Bath and Body Works,  Sephora, Best Buy, 
      PetSupplies.com, Marriot Travel Card, Chili's, Champs, Build-  
      A-Bear, Papa Johns…and so many more!
   Maybe you think the amount of tabs you earn from each purchase is too small to amount to anything so you are worried you will have to spend tons just to earn a little?   Not so.  As I mentioned, according to RewardTAB, on average, a member will typically earn a gift card with every other transaction.  From what I could tell, and compared to many other similar programs, RewardTAB’s ratio of what you have to spend vs. what you earn, is pretty good.  Plus, there are plenty of ways save!  Check out the examples…

-If you buy gift cards to stores that carry items you need, and don’t buy just to splurge, then you will wind up saving money in the long run because you will be earning money back in the form of another gift card or even PayPal cash. 
-Use your gift card to purchase items that are on sale and save.  Use coupons, too!
-For higher priced items purchase multiple cards to the same merchant to maximize the amount of TABS you earn.  
-Triple your savings by first purchasing a gift card with a credit card that offers points or cash back on purchases. Then, secondly,  redeem that gift card to get items that are on sale, and then, third, collect any applicable store-specific loyalty points with your purchase! 
There are plenty of ways to save and earn more!

My Verdict?
   Overall, I believe this is one of the better loyalty/rewards program out there.  Their selection of gift cards that you can buy and earn is better than many other programs out there.  The ratio of what you have to spend to what you will earn seems to be a better than average as well.  Of course, the higher amount gift card you buy, the more TABS you get, which means the quicker you will be able to redeem.  Like all of these programs, if you use it to purchase gift cards or even gifts for someone, I think it is great because you will get more for your money since you will be saving money by earning money back in the form of gift cards.  Likewise, if you use it to purchase items you need, for example at CVS, then it is a great way to save money by earning money back.  Especially if you can combine it with other ways to save. In summary, very simply put, if you got to spend it, then spend it on a gift card to get what you need so you can get something back!
